An introduction into the craft of letterpress. No experience required.

Get inked up and ready to roll! Each student gets hands on learning how to hand-set and lock up type to pulling a print. Printing takes place in a working print shop on a variety of vintage and antique printing presses including small hand operated platens, to large flat bed proofing presses.

All students will create their own personnel project from our large collection of wood and metal type to take home with them. Bring some ideas with you of what you would like to print, depending on complexity you might have time to make a few!

This is also the perfect class for someone thinking of buying a press or for those who have already bought one and don't know where to start! Students are welcome to bring their press along so I can give it the once over and get it up and running.

As well as basic letterpress tuition such as ink mixing, make ready and packing the press, students have the option to learn modern computer to plate methods and file preparation for polymer or magnesium plates.

Your welcome to bring your own project, please contact for suitability.

Students that have taken the class previously are welcome to come along and just crack on with a more ambitious project.
